As a person concerned with their own carbon footprint, I was interested in the viability of owning an electric car and living in North Yorkshire. I knew there were no fast public charging points in my town and wondered what the distribution was across the county. So I started this spatial analysis project to find out.

About:
This map was created as part of an ongoing personal project to understand EV charging point distribution across the rural county of North Yorkshire.
The travel distances to each charging station were calculated using Open Route Services isochrones.

About:
To compare the distribution of EV charging points with petrol stations I created this map in the same way as the EV map above, using isochrones from Open Route Services.

About:
The idea behind these parity maps and analysis was to try to understand the parity between access to traditional petrol stations and access to EV charging stations.

About:
This map helps better understand the population distribution and density across North Yorkshire. The maps shows the relationship between the population distribution and the access from those population centres to an ev charge point.

Interactive web map of driving distances to EV charging points.
This interactive web map shows the driving distances to EV fast charging points across North Yorkshire. For comparison the map also includes optional layers showing driving distances to petrol stations. I created this web map using the qgis2web plugin in QGIS. I will (one day) teach myself to do it manually using either Python or 'R'.
Each layer on the web map can be toggled on and off using the tick boxes in the legend.
